Methods of Academic Presentation

Korakuen campus, spring term, Monday 4:35~6:05

This course will address the practices of scholarship in English, with particular reference to the ways these differ from the practices of scholarship in Japanese.

Students will select a portion of their postgraduate research suitable for a short presentation, and will engage the subject in English. Instruction will be offered in the systematic location of sources using both print and electronic media, the fair and accurate use of both primary and secondary texts in an original work of scholarship, and the full, fair, and accurate documentation of all source materials. The course will culminate in a series of researched and documented student presentations of thirty to forty minutes.

Texts will be provided by the instructor and students.
