A sonnet in which the speaker asserts that ‘were [his] home here’ in Japan his ‘imagination’s mark’ would be the peaks of Sakurajima, an active volcanic island in Kagoshima Bay. Printed ‘with greetings from Claire and Edmund Blunden, Tokyo’ as a Christmas card (see also 3, 58, and 65).
