BL. W. B. Yeats

142. Furukawa, Hisashi. ‘Yeats and Noh’. Yeats Society of Japan Annual Report 3 (1968-69): 5-6.

Synopsis of a lecture given at the third general meeting of the Yeats Society of Japan in 1967. Furukawa, a scholar of the nô, urges Yeats scholars to take a greater interest in the relation between the nô and Yeats’s plays. Suggests in passing that the ‘reason for the success’ of At the Hawk’s Well (12) may be found in the fact that neither Yeats nor Itô (Ap) was well-informed about the nô, and that Yeats ‘was not sympathetic’ to the kyôgen.
